Social media and blogging platforms can be great for sharing content. But if you only rely on those platforms without having an actual site that you own and control completely, you could find your business in trouble if those platforms decide to make changes. Frank Strong of Sword and the Script explains more here.
For most websites, it takes several months for SEO to kick in and achieve the goal of search engine visibility. Another key factor to remember is how unique your site is. If there are hundreds of sites like yours, then the chances beating those sites in search rankings are reduced. The best way to stand out from the crowd is to base content on very unique keyword phrases that your competitors missed. If you are the only business in your city offering your type of niche, then it’s very advantageous to use your city name as a keyword.
Great post! A solid addition the “email” section is Free List Check (https://freelistcheck.com/). It’s a health scan for your email lists that helps uncover deliverability threats before sending out an email campaign.
I’m keen on going back through the post and making sure that all of the courses are truly “free” for everyone. I think with this one, the course materials were free, but to get access to the official certificate, that was a paid option.
When I started out, I pitched SEO packages to local business owners that I met through networking, which is a good way to start building result-oriented business case studies that show the ROI (return on investment) that has been generated from your efforts. Once you have those and you can prove you consistently get results, you’ll be completely indispensable because nearly every online business succeeds or fails based on the quality of their digital marketing (and people who are really good at it are rare).
ReadyTalk – This online conferencing tool offers a single interface for web, audio, and video conferencing. Also features the ability to record and share webinars and integrate with mobile conferencing.
A gifted product (or service) is mightier than a gifted marketing campaign. This principle has built more fortunes than any other marketing insight which is why I listed it as #1. A superior product (or service) gives the best results in marketing and selling because if it is not in the product, it isn’t going to be in the marketing either. In other words, if your product is not better than the competition’s your marketing can’t honestly communicate any unique and advantageous qualities to your market. The better your product, the more persuasive your ads can be, and the bigger your marketing success will be. You need a strategy; a unique and powerful message, to win.
There’s a diverse mix of free tools available, one of the enjoyable aspects of working in digital marketing today. I’ll start with the most widely used. Please let us know about the “essential free tools” you use in the comments. For many more tools suggestions – check out our free guide.
Heck yes you could. You could pay up to $10 to get a visitor to that web page and still break even. In fact, you’ll be able to pay more than $10 to get a visitor to that page when you truly understand the whole of Customer Value Optimization.
A digital marketing strategy is an important part of the overall marketing strategy of a business. This is true whether or not a company is doing business online. It is also true for a small, medium or large size company but especially true for a small company. Small business marketing for a local company can include many offline local advertising methods but needs to include a healthy portion of digital marketing strategies to be successful and maximize sales in today’s economy.
Digital marketing is also referred to as ‘online marketing’, ‘internet marketing’ or ‘web marketing’. The term digital marketing has grown in popularity over time. In the USA online marketing is still a popular term. In Italy, digital marketing is referred to as web marketing. Worldwide digital marketing has became the most common term, especially after the year 2013.

Meagan, thank you for sharing these valuable tips with the “internet universe.” Small business owners most definitely have a challenge marketing their business with little money to spend. Another good tactic I would suggest is a joint venture campaign with someone that already has a list of prospects like your target market. Ask them if they can invite their list to your webinar. You could offer a shared revenue from any business acquired from that webinar as a thank you…or you could send them a nice gift.
We achieved great results when we were using it. For the first notifications that we sent, we had CTR’s as high as 60% (it dropped but was always around 20% which is great compared to display and Facebook remarketing campaigns).
Google Data Studio (beta) turns your data into informative dashboards and reports that are easy to read, easy to share, and fully customizable. Dashboarding allows you to tell great data stories to support better decisions.
The only thing we had complaints about in the past, was the price of the Four Seasons rooms for our out-of-town guests. This year we have set up a deal with a close by hotel that is going to provide us with a special DealerTalk rate.
Get a “diploma” in Social Media Marketing in just 15-20 hours with this free, ad-funded course provided by online course provider ALISON. It explains the use of email marketing, affiliate marketing, Facebook marketing, and how to use social media tools such as Twitter, podcasting and blogging.
Knowing how to write well is an important skill for just about anything, but knowing how to write for the web is a whole different ball game. It takes clear and concise copy to gain the attention of your readers in just a few seconds.
You should also always use the password generator that creates strong, random, impossible to remember passwords for you. If you can remember your password, it’s too easy, and it’s just a matter of time before some automated bot comes along and brute force hacks your account.
This is a great list! I’d also add guest posting on high profile blogs in your industry. You benefit from their reach, get backlinks, and exposure to a wider audience. And bragging rights to add to your “As Seen On” banner!
I applaud your initiative in putting together a list like this. The research going into it had to have been gruesome. However, as you point out, it is not exhaustive. Just as an example: you missed MailChimp which is one of the most used email platforms; DrumUp which I use in addition to Hootsuite as a scheduler because of the ease of scheduling posts to a Facebook business page; Medium is an excellent blog publishing platform; and more. Not a criticism of your work, which I love because it points out options I have not yet explored. More a reminder to everyone else that no list like this is exhaustive.
26. Promote Positive Reviews – Since Yelp reviews are featured in local search results on all major search engines, generating great reviews is more important that ever. Plus, you can promote these reviews in other places, like your website and social media sites.
In the world of content creation, there are admittedly tons of different tools you could use to create various types of content. Whether it’s social images, logos, blog posts, or ebooks — the options and tools are endless.
