PS: I disliked how paid courses are set up in Coursera–I’m a bright person with excellent reading comprehension, but others in the class were scoring very low, yet giving positive reviews in the comments… and so a lot of people were failing the classes when they should be getting a B average. And people were scoring others really low and giving them ridiculous feedback that proved they didn’t understand the material themselves. No thanks on the ignorant masses making sure I don’t pass a class I’m paying for… good idea on paper, but between the complicated scoring set-up and the propensity for others to want to feel superior (even based on gender, ethnicity, etc.) it simply did not work well.

I don’t know why more people don’t talk about Google Scholar, but I love this tool for researching science-heavy articles and digging into emerging studies. It limits your search to articles, theses, books, abstracts and court opinions, from academic publishers, professional societies, online repositories, universities and other web sites. Pair it with a Google Alert to get amazing research on your topics of interest delivered right to your inbox.

This is probably my personal favorite. You think your copywriting is clear and conversational? Wrong! Despite what Lupe Fiasco says, we need to dumb it down. We talk about our own products everyday, so we understand the terminology more than the average user or customer ever will.
Everything PR. In January of 2013, Everything PR put together a list of 100 Content Marketing tools. While it’s one of the most comprehensive lists, I have seen, it doesn’t strictly list “tools” in the sense of technologies. Many of the entries are resource sites and blogs such as the Content Rules Blog, or events such as Content Marketing World 2013. While such resources can be helpful for marketers, they are not strictly tools. The list also makes no attempt to organize and group tools together.
