If you think this is easy, it’s not. It’s a pain in the ass to keep on updating things about your company daily, weekly or, (heaven forbid) monthly. Actually, scratch out the monthly because updating monthly makes your blog quite useless – unless you already have hundreds of articles for readers to dig around.

I have worked with thousands of businesspeople and found something amazing. The owners of under performing businesses almost always work just as hard, and sometimes even harder, than the owners of successful ones. At first glance, this doesn’t seem to make sense – until you dig a little deeper and realise that the reason their hard work is getting them nowhere, is that they mistake movement for progress.

This is a cautionary tale for online entrepreneurs, with a special warning for Amazon sellers. A few days ago I read an article about an Etsy vendor who sort of got too big for Etsy… In case you’re not familiar with it, Etsy is basically a marketplace for handcrafted goods… artsy things and such. They […]

Everyone knows that quality never comes cheap. We have been trained from childhood to believe that if something looks too good to be true, it is too good to be true. Promising people a high quality service for a low fee, creates doubt. That’s the last thing you want to happen in the mind of your prospective clients.
Kids love balloons. Adults love them too, but are embarrassed to admit it. Stop the shame – balloons and bubbles will always be awesome, it’s OK to say so. You’ll have a bunch of happy people marching around with your brand floating above their heads, all for less than $200.
Heidi Cohen is the president of Riverside Marketing Strategies and founded her popular marketing blog, Heidi Cohen’s Actionable Marketing Guide. The quote above comes from her article, Internal Content Curation: What Most Marketers Miss. Cohen recommends performing internal content curation to save on content creation costs and build your audience for each piece of content. You can extend the use of your existing content by re-promoting it (via social media or other channels) or re-using it by adapting it into different formats that can be shared on different platforms.
Cross-platform measurement: The number of marketing channels continues to expand, as measurement practices are growing in complexity. A cross-platform view must be used to unify audience measurement and media planning. Market researchers need to understand how the Omni-channel affects consumer’s behaviour, although when advertisements are on a consumer’s device this does not get measured. Significant aspects to cross-platform measurement involves de-duplication and understanding that you have reached an incremental level with another platform, rather than delivering more impressions against people that have previously been reached (Whiteside, 2016). An example is ‘ESPN and comScore partnered on Project Blueprint discovering the sports broadcaster achieved a 21% increase in unduplicated daily reach thanks to digital advertising’ (Whiteside, 2016). Television and radio industries are the electronic media, which competes with digital and other technological advertising. Yet television advertising is not directly competing with online digital advertising due to being able to cross platform with digital technology. Radio also gains power through cross platforms, in online streaming content. Television and radio continue to persuade and affect the audience, across multiple platforms (Fill, Hughes, & De Franceso, 2013).
Now, it’s time to bring all of it together to form a cohesive strategy document. Let’s revisit what digital strategy means: the series of actions that are going to help you achieve your goal(s) using online marketing.
