There are so many different ways to market a business online these days. But luckily, you don’t need to try all of them in order to find out what works. Members of our small business community have already done some of the legwork for you. Here are some of their top tips for developing an effective online marketing strategy.
Crawling refers to the way that search engines like Google browse the Internet, and indexing refers to how the crawled information is stored. When content is indexed, it can show up in results pages. But if your pages aren’t indexed, Google won’t know that they exist, which makes it impossible for them to rank your page in search results.
AddThis is a great alternative with very similar features. Their pricing for the premium version is as out-to-lunch as SumoMe’s, but fortunately the free features have been great for my sites and increased social sharing noticeably (they also give you an analytics panel). They also have a Related Posts module which was better than any plugin I’ve tried, so that let me replace two plugins with one.
This is a handy little tool, courtesy of Google, that tells you when your brand is mentioned online. You can even have it alert you when your competitors are mentioned. Pretty helpful for knowing who’s talking about you on the Web.
5. Use Anti-Virus software. If you’re going to be online, you need some kind of anti-virus software protecting your computer. There are many many anti-virus products out there. 2 popular free products are Avast! and AVG.

They are highly motivated buyers; the exact people you should be targeting with your marketing!

I found that google analytics doesn’t report all hits but it’s a great free tool. Followerwonk is great as well, I used it to integrate with buffer and find optimal posting times for twitter. Simply measured sounds promising and I will be sure to check it out!
